Pulau Pangkor - Day 3

Last day in Pulau Pangkor.
We took that cute pink mini bus to tour the island.
The driver, a very friendly old chinese guy was like a professional tourist guide, explaining to us almost every detail about the island.
He brought us to a few interesting places and he talked almost non-stop about this small island.

The Dutch Fort.

The boys at the ruins of the Dutch Fort

The Galery

This coral/stone that we were holding is quite heavy and yet it FLOATS in the water.
People used to bathe using the water soaked with this coral/stone to cure illness because it is believed to have healing powers.

The three beautiful princesses from Majapahit.
Kembar kot..not sure.

Batu bersurat 1743.
There is a drawing of a tiger and some writtings on it.
It is believed that the drawing tells a story of a tiger that mauled and killed the son of a Dutch personnel.

Mini Great Wall of China

We also stopped by at the boat building factory, satay factory, china town and other places
tapi tak sempat ambik gambar.

But as usual, we enjoyed the beach more than anything else.
It is quite lively, not to crowded, a lot of things to observe and
it is easy to get carried away with lots of thoughts here.

Somehow when I am at the beach,
a lot of things in my mind became disentangled and almost everything seemed crystal clear.

Pulau Pangkor - Day 2

Took a stroll along the beach early in the morning and just sat and enjoyed the view.
It was calming staring at the wave rolling and hitting the beach.
It was fun just
watching little children fighting who get to play on the wooden swing first,
listening to the beach boys calling for the tourists to join their activities,
the hornbills hopping around looking for food and
oh yes, not to forget those romantic
honeymooners, I can tell by the thick inai on their fingers and their happy faces.

Dah letih usha org kat tepi pantai, then pegi join speed boat trip pulok!

Waiting for the speed boat for a snorkeling trip at Pulau Giam.
I did not enjoy this as much as the one at Tioman Island but oh well, it was okay I guess.

Mandi-manda di Teluk Man.
Now, this one, I LIKEEEEE.

The white sand and clear water, blue sky, the tranquility..almost perfect..THEN came a group of monkeys trying to steal bags/food from the tourists there and then it was not so perfect anymore. Haiya!

Batu Penyu.
see that rock formation on the right hand side of this photo, it does look like a turtle right?

Batu buaya
The rock formation on the left looks like a crocodile.

Batu Ikan Paus.
Nampak tak kepala ikan paus, siap ada pokok to resemble air keluar kat atas kepala dia.

Pulau Pangkor - Day 1

This is my 4th visit to Teluk Nipah, Pulau Pangkor with my family.
The last time we were here was 2 years ago and things have changed quite a bit since then.
There is a new building along the seafront which consists of a row of shops/restaurants.
It is kind of blocking the sea view if you are walking along the main road.

Other than that, everything else still looked the same to me.
But the sea water was extremely clear this time and I looove it so much.

And this time, I got to see the Hornbills/Enggang.
Sebelum ni tak pernah nampak pun, tapi this time,
they were easily spotted almost everywhere especially when there was food around.
I saw dozens of them flying in the sky and others hopping around looking for food especially early in the morning and late evening. Somehow I think these hornbills looked rather small compared to those found in East Malaysia.

But then most of all,
I enjoyed just lazying around on the beach trying hard to brush off the thought that I have final exams coming in a few days.

The new building.

Sand, sea, breeze and Pulau Pangkor

My wish came true.
Stepped my feet on the sand, got my toes in the water and felt the breeze on my skin.

This is my 4th visit to Pulau Pangkor and yet I still enjoyed it very much.
Especially this time around I managed to visit a few interesting/historical places on the island.

It was a much needed break for me to relax the mind & soul.
Rejuvenating!

Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri

An exciting Raya indeed.
We did a lot of things during this Raya including the norms e.g ketupat/rendang, forgiving/forgiveness, visiting relatives/friends, bunga api session, attending weddings etc.

On top of that,
we did the not so ordinary things too like
visiting an old friendly Chinese guy on Raya day itself and learned so much about so many things from him,
followed a stranger to a remote village and made new friends there,
chased after a guy on a motorbike to buy his fresh petai and lots more.

Well, that really completed and made a good and interesting Raya for sure.

Getting my brothers ready for Raya Prayers.
My Mak Tok's house looks cosy, isn't it?

Kampung scenery never fail to amaze me.

My handsome Super Heroes!!

And sometimes, my Super Heroes transformed into...who else but..themselves!!

With Atok, wish that he will get well soon and smile again like he used too.

15 Years and Still Going Strong

Ramadhan has always been very special to me. In a spiritual way, that is definite.
But not only that, it is special because we get to have our ritual class reunion and Jalan2 Raya together.

That is what me and my primary school's friends do almost every Ramadhan and Raya.
Eventhough we are all spread across the globe to pursue our education, when it comes to Ramadhan, almost everyone will be home and Iftar together is a must.

There is always a lot to catch-up with each other.

Our friendship bracelets: we learned to read, write and count and even sing together.
We have grown from girls and boys to ladies and gentlemens.
15 years and still going strong.

The Invitation Card.

Lovely friends of 15 years
and beyond.

The cake to make sure we all gain weight!

The guys,
well,  the guys and a girl to be exact.

The guess book, may we be friends forever.
And next, Jalan2 Raya, can't wait.

Tons of Joy.

I am lucky to have so many wonderful friends around me.
Some of whom, I have been friends since kindergarten.
It is always fun when I get to meet up and share a cup of joy with them.
And that was what I had a couple of days ago, well I had more than a cup, probably tons of joy catching up with the latest gossips while having sushi with my primary school friends, and yeah, we have been friends for almost 15 years.

There is something special about sushi. When we sat at the sushi bar chances were we'll end up laughing, making a lot of noise and going crazy about almost everything. And then, there was this Wasabi that gave us that warm explosion in our mouth, caused a burning sensation through our nose and made our eyes watery. The more reason for us to burst into laughter.

I love this moment, spending time with great friends.
Friends, who know me and accept me just the same anytime, anywhere. It is a reassurance to know that we could still share our stories and the most important part is that we all still look at the world the same way,
the Crazy Way!

Taman Layang-layang: Run! Forest, Run!

We had our 2 IN 1 annual birthday celebrations at Taman Layang-layang over the weekend. It was a rather hot day but nonetheless we had so much fun, enjoying the delicious Pecan Butter Scotch cake from Secret Recipe and mama's homemade nasi arab with ayam masak pedas, pastry puff with cold cuts, cream crackers pudding and some keropok

The birthday boys, Aiman (19 years old on 14/7) and Amir (14 years old on 15/7)

We arrived rather early but there were already quite a lot of people there. When our tummies were full, everyone automatically rushed to get the kites.
We realized it was not windy enough judging from the trees and branches which hardly move. But oh well, we were too excited to wait for Mr. Wind to show up so we did the obvious,
we ran and ran and ran as far as possible to launch our kites.

Run, Forest, Run!

There was this old man sitting on a picnic chair under a big striped umbrella who kept on staring at us. He had a big beautiful kite (and I bet it cost a lot too) lying next to him. When the leaves and bushes started to move, he gently got up and launched his beautiful big kite without much effort. He even seemed to make his kite danced across the sky (Haiya, show off!).

He must be laughing at us earlier when we were busy running since unlike us, he knew exactly when to let his kite in the air. Well, we might be exhausted after all the running (and probably managed to burn some calories while we were at it), but eventually most of us managed to get our kites up in the air. And what a big satisfaction it was, hmm, it was like as though you lift up the 'spirit' of the kite, haahaa!

The field here is so massive so there is enough space for everyone. We will definitely visit this place again and let our kites fly one more time.
Can't wait, so excited to run and run again (now I know why Forest Gum love to run) and this time I'll make sure my kite dance too or find something interesting at the end of the kite line.

"See you in the Sky"
